  • Advising the Association of Bay Area Governments on its Resilience Initiative to develop and apply regional resilience and disaster recovery planning
    • Coordinating 100 Resilience Cities Initiative Planning in the San Francisco bay area
    • Provide strategic planning and policy guidance on FEMA Regional Resilience Initiative

Recent

  • Supported development of long term disaster recovery plan for Washington D.C.
  • Assisted City of Palo Alto, California to develop a Threat and Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (THIRA)
  • Advised on project with the California Energy Commission on the implementation of energy assurance plans for California cities
  • Assessed state of disaster readiness for City of Palo Alto, California’s local government and community agencies and institutions:
    • Developed recommendations to address operational improvements to existing Office of Emergency Services, including inter-departmental coordination; inclusion of capital planning to mitigate seismic vulnerability; and quantified disaster loss estimates
  • Coordinated City of Berkeley and University of California, Berkeley efforts to convene all University of California and California State University system cities and campuses for a disaster and economic resilience conference with senior elected and appointed officials
  • Worked with ICF International team to assess Pacific Gas and Electric’s systemic disaster readiness, including gap analysis of current response and recovery practices, and develop improvement recommendations
  • Assessed U.S. federal- and state-level seismic safety practices for schools for U.S. State Department, Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC), and GeoHazards International effort to establish international mitigation initiative.
  • Advised as disaster recovery expert on development of Regional Catastrophic Response Plan for the metropolitan New York City area
